What it is
Blitz.gg is a multi-game platform focused on overlay tools and post-match analysis, supporting Apex since 2020. The Windows app runs in the background, detects your Apex launch, and overlays live stats during the match — kills, damage, accuracy in real-time plus teammate and enemy comparisons at the start of each game. Web companion (blitz.gg/apex) for post-match breakdowns and history. Free with optional Premium tier for advanced features.
What problem it solves
Apex has a brief, limited end-of-match summary. Blitz gives you the deep dive: damage by weapon, accuracy per gun, time-to-kill per engagement, K/D fight by fight. For players who want post-session coaching, the data is all there. More importantly: the live overlay lets you see enemy and teammate stats at match start — useful for spotting smurfs or pros in your lobby before committing to an engage.
Differentiation
- vs apex-tracker-gg + Overwolf: Tracker.gg requires Overwolf as wrapper. Blitz has its own standalone app. Blitz integrates more features in one app (overlay + post-match + sensitivity converter). Tracker.gg has better historical leaderboards.
- vs Stryda.gg: Stryda has challenge gamification. Blitz is pure overlay + analytics, more professional and less game-like.
- vs apex-legends-status: ALS has no overlay, only web. Blitz covers overlay where ALS doesn't.
What people use it for
- Live overlay during match: see enemy stats at spawn, accuracy and kill counter in HUD during combat.
- Post-match coaching: per-weapon breakdown, accuracy heatmap, identify exact mistake moments.
- Compare with trio teammates: at-a-glance see who is performing best on KD and damage per session.
- Track sensitivity and aim across patches: Blitz has a built-in sens converter useful when changing monitor or mouse.
Who this tool is NOT for
If you play casually and don't want a background app running, don't install it — overlays distract casual players. If you only need meta-level data (not your-stats data), apexlegendsstatus is lighter.
How it's used in practice
- Download Blitz from blitz.gg — Windows-only installer.
- Install and launch the app. Log in with email or Steam/Google.
- In settings, link your Apex account (Origin/Steam) for auto-detect.
- Launch Apex normally — Blitz detects it automatically and activates the overlay.
- Post-match: the app opens a browser tab automatically with a detailed summary.
Honest limitations
- Windows-only: no Mac/Linux builds. If you play Apex via Steam Play / Proton, it doesn't work.
- Background resource usage: the app consumes ~200MB RAM constantly. Players with modest setups notice it.
- Privacy concerns: it reads player names in your lobby, which some players consider invasive. Riot/EA servers don't tolerate tools scraping in-game data, although Blitz has historically been OK with ToS.
- Free tier with upsells: periodic nag screens asking to upgrade to Premium ($8/mo).
- App update cadence depends on Blitz's team: when Apex patches, the overlay can break temporarily.
How to get started
Download from blitz.gg, install. First time takes 5 minutes to set up (login, link account, configure overlay positions). After that it's transparent — you open Apex and Blitz does its work in the background. If after 2 weeks you don't use it, uninstall — there's no cost to keeping it but also no value if you don't use it.
