Nexus Mods (Palworld)

The primary mod hub for Palworld

FreeEssentialBeginner

What it is

Nexus Mods is the oldest and largest mod hosting platform on PC. The Palworld section (nexusmods.com/games/palworld) has thousands of mods covering everything: QoL fixes, balance tweaks, visual conversions, gameplay mods (more inventory slots, better Pal pathfinding, harder raids), Pal retextures, total conversions, and joke mods. Free, with an optional account for faster downloads and endorsements.

What problem it solves

Finding stray mods on the internet is a mess — stale Reddit threads, abandoned GitHub repos, files on Mega. Nexus centralizes everything in one place with versioning, changelogs, descriptions, screenshots, comments, and an endorsement system. It's where the community finds, evaluates, and installs mods.

How it differs

In Palworld, the real competitor would be Steam Workshop, but Palworld doesn't have Workshop. Pocketpair didn't integrate official modding support, so the whole scene lives on Nexus + GitHub. Nexus wins by default.

Some modders also publish to Thunderstore (especially UE4SS-based ones), but the bulk of the Palworld scene is still on Nexus.

What people use it for

  • Download QoL mods: more slots, better map, pathfinding fix.
  • Hunt retextures: Pal skins, custom weapons.
  • Try gameplay mods: tuned difficulty, new events.
  • Track mods in development: comments and endorsement counts tell you which ones have traction.
  • Report bugs and give feedback: active modders answer in the comments.

Who this isn't for

If you play on Xbox or Game Pass console, you can't use mods — Palworld doesn't support console modding. Nexus is Windows PC only.

How it's used in practice

  1. Free account on nexusmods.com (not required for browsing, required for downloads).
  2. Filter by category, popularity, or update date.
  3. Read description + requirements (most need UE4SS or PalSchema).
  4. Download manually or use Mod Hub (the manager) to automate.
  5. Endorse mods that work for you to help their ranking.

Honest limitations

  • Cloudflare sometimes blocks you: if you get a 403, wait a few seconds or try another browser.
  • Free accounts get download throttling: slow, single-threaded downloads. Premium ($7/mo) speeds it up — only useful if you grab a lot of mods at once.
  • Variable quality: some mods abandoned since 2024 break with recent patches. Check update date and comments before installing.
  • Not 100% open source: the platform is commercial. Individual mods may or may not be open.

How to get started

Create a free account at nexusmods.com. Filter by "Most Endorsed (All-time)" or "Most Endorsed (30 days)" to see the hits. For your first batch of mods, look at the Modding Frameworks section (UE4SS + PalSchema) first — they're dependencies for most everything else.
