What it is
Fun is Allowed is a Nightreign overhaul mod distributed on Nexus (nexusmods.com/eldenringnightreign/mods/49). Specifically designed to make solo and duo runs playable — vanilla Nightreign is balanced for trios and the other two configurations have real disadvantages.
Covers stats, starting gear, damage scaling, and survivability. Compatible with Seamless Co-op to extend while balancing.
What it solves
Vanilla Nightreign for solo: very hard. Nightlords scale assuming trio, and solo means less DPS, no healing share, no aggro distribution. Most solo players abandon at the first challenging Nightlord.
For duos: better than solo but still tough — missing the third player who can dedicate to aggro management or healing.
Fun is Allowed adjusts this: you start with Wending Grace (auto-revive), improved base stats, adjusted damage output. The experience becomes "challenging but fair" rather than "impossible without trio."
What people use it for
Viable solo runs: complete Nightreign single-player without extreme frustration.
Balanced duo runs: play with a friend without needing to find a third.
Practice runs: learn specific encounters without team pressure.
Solo achievement hunting: for users who need certain achievements solo.
Combination with Seamless Co-op: balancing for custom groups of 4-5 that aren't vanilla 3 nor full 6.
Who shouldn't use it
If you always play in trio and your group is stable, doesn't add anything.
If you value vanilla's "intended difficulty," the mod adjusts it — doesn't fit purists.
If you play vanilla online multiplayer, the mod forces offline and you can't mix.
How it's used in practice
- Download Fun is Allowed from
nexusmods.com/eldenringnightreign/mods/49. - Follow the README to extract and install (requires offline mode).
- Configure settings to preference — the mod has "aggressive rebalance" vs "minimal tweaks" options.
- Launch Nightreign with the matching setup.
- Start a solo or duo Expedition and validate balance works.
Honest limitations
Offline only: taints your save for vanilla online.
Controversial difficulty: some community members think it "trivializes"; others "fixes" broken balance. Subjective.
More complex setup: requires Mod Engine 2 + Seamless Co-op for optimal use.
Slow post-patch updates: the mod's solo dev takes time to adjust after official balance changes.
Limited compatibility with other mods: changes many params; conflicts with mods that touch the same files.
