What it is
Daily Check-In is an official HoYoverse system where, by entering HoYoLAB each day and clicking a button, you receive in-game rewards delivered directly to your Genshin mailbox. Rewards scale with consecutive days of the month (more days = better rewards), and include primogems, mora, hero's wit, mystic enhancement ore, and other upgrade materials.
It works from web (HoYoLAB.com), from the HoYoLAB app (iOS/Android), and is technically accessible even when you can't open Genshin (e.g., traveling, broken computer). It's one of the most efficient ways to slowly farm primogems without effort.
What problem it solves
Genshin is a game where primogems determine your access to new characters. Getting them from the game itself requires time: completing achievements, events, exploration. For F2P or low-spenders, every primogem counts for the next pull.
Daily Check-In solves this by giving free primogems with no gameplay effort required. No quests, no grind. Just one click. If you do it religiously every day for a year, that's approximately 720 extra primogems (~5 wishes). It's not much but it adds up, and the cost is 30 seconds daily.
What people use it for
Accumulating primogems passively: the obvious use case. Daily click → primogems to mailbox → eventually more wishes for the banner you want.
Maintaining the streak for scaled rewards: rewards spike on days 7, 14, 21 of the month (typically with bonus primogems or premium materials). Skipping days doesn't lose what you accumulated for the month but does cost you those specific milestones.
Claiming upgrade materials: besides primogems, days give mora (currency), hero's wit (character XP), and mystic enhancement ore (weapon XP). If you're farming these, they're useful bonuses.
Excuse to check HoYoLAB: most people enter just to click check-in and leave. But while there, it's easy to spot active events, new redeem codes, or game news.
Staying active while afk from the game: if you go on vacation or can't play for whatever reason, you keep claiming daily rewards from web/mobile. When you return to the game, you find everything accumulated in your mailbox.
Who this isn't for
Honestly, there's no real "this isn't for you" case. It's 30 seconds for free primogems. The only thing: if you hate opening HoYoLAB as a personal preference (some people don't want an extra account, others prefer not to mix forums with game), then skip it and accept losing the rewards. It's valid but the loss is real.
How it's used in practice
Go to
act.hoyolab.com/ys/event/signin-sea-v3/index.html(or enter HoYoLAB and click "Daily Check-In" in the sidebar).Log in with your HoYoverse account linked to Genshin.
Click the current day's "Check In" button. The reward goes straight to your in-game mailbox (can take 1-2 minutes to appear).
(Optional) Enable HoYoLAB mobile notifications. It reminds you daily so you don't forget.
For maximum efficiency: install the HoYoLAB mobile app. Check-in is 2 taps instead of opening a browser.
Honest limitations
Requires your daily discipline. Forgetting one day isn't catastrophic (you don't lose what's accumulated for the month), but missing day 7/14/21 milestones does affect the monthly total.
Not transferable between regions. If your account is on SEA server, you use the SEA URL. Other servers (NA/EU) have different URLs. Watch out if you switch accounts or have accounts in multiple regions.
Rewards are modest individually. 20 primogems here, 10 there. The magic is in accumulation, not each day. If you expect a month to give you 1000 primogems, you'll be disappointed.
HoYoLAB will use it to sell you things. Every time you enter check-in, you see events, welkin moon offers (premium currency), promo banners. There's friction-design to keep you spending more time than necessary.
Days requiring game maintenance can have delays. When there's a big update, the Genshin mailbox might not process rewards until after maintenance. Generally works but exceptions happen.
No offline mobile equivalent. You always need internet. If you're traveling without signal, that day is lost.
How to get started
If you've never done this before: go to act.hoyolab.com/ys/event/signin-sea-v3/index.html (changing to your region if not SEA). Log in with your HoYoverse account — the same one you use to play Genshin. If your account is PSN or platform-specific, you first need to link it to an email/HoYoverse account.
Once logged in, you'll see the month's calendar with the days that have passed and today's available to claim. Click today → reward sent to in-game mailbox.
Retention tip: set an alarm on your phone to do it at the same hour every day (suggestion: 10pm, after daily Spiral Abyss and before sleep). In 1-2 weeks it becomes automatic habit.
