What it is

Maxroll (maxroll.gg/last-epoch) is the LE section of the Maxroll editorial hub, a professional team that combines known creators with dedicated staff publishing curated guides. Covers cross-game ARPGs: PoE 1, PoE 2, D4, LE, D2R, and Lost Ark, with shared editorial team across all of them.

For LE specifically it provides:

  • Build guides: extensive per-mastery, with leveling + endgame + push variants sections.
  • Build planner: integrated web planner where published builds load automatically.
  • Tier lists: class tier list and build tier list, updated patch after patch.
  • Getting Started: guides for newcomers covering campaign, class choice, first endgame.
  • Monolith & Dungeons: specific Monolith of Fate guides (beginner + advanced), each dungeon (Lightless Arbor, Soulfire Bastion, Temporal Sanctum), and boss strategies.
  • Leaderboards: community-maintained leaderboard updated every few minutes, alternative to the official ladder.
  • News: editorial analysis of patches and season previews.

What problem it solves

LE has intermediate complexity between D4 (easy) and PoE (extreme). For a newcomer, the 15-mastery system with independent skill passive trees can paralyze — you don't know where to start.

Maxroll solves this with strong editorial curation: you go in, pick a class, see the cycle's top builds with tier ratings, open the build, and have leveling path + endgame + paragon-equivalent (blessings/passive points) on a single page. Saves days vs assembling info from Reddit.

For intermediate/advanced players, the Monolith of Fate and Empowered Monolith guides are required reading: they explain blessing targeting, corruption push strategy, and boss strategies with depth no other hub provides.

How it differs from Last Epoch Tools

The two are LE's large hubs, but with opposing focus:

  • Maxroll: editorial depth. Builds published by staff with long prose and per-slot justification. Tier lists with analysis. If you're new or want to understand the build's why, Maxroll.
  • Last Epoch Tools: community breadth. Auto-crawled builds, exhaustive DB, planner without curation. For quick meta scans or seeing many build variants, LE Tools.

Most players use both: Last Epoch Tools for quick inspection and DB lookups; Maxroll for the deep guide of the chosen build.

What people use it for

Picking mastery pre-cycle: 2 weeks before season start, you check Class Tier List and Build Tier List on Maxroll to see which mastery is strong and plan your fresh character.

Leveling build: the guide gives optimal leveling path (skills in order, gear baseline, blessing target) from level 1 to endgame transition (~lvl 70).

Endgame optimization: once at cap, you read build variants (push variant, farm variant, boss-kill variant) and pick by objective.

Monolith planning: the Empowered Monolith Guide explains timeline completion order, blessing priority per timeline, and corruption push strategy. Critical for optimizing the character.

Patch reaction: post balance change, Maxroll updates tier lists within hours. Whether your build survived or it's time to reroll, you find out there.

Crafting deep dives: specific guides on legendary potential, weaver's will, sealed affixes — crafting mechanics the game teaches poorly.

Who it's NOT for

  • Extreme theorycrafters: the integrated planner is good but isn't Path of Building. For deep DPS simulation, complement with PoB for LE.
  • Spanish speakers who want Spanish content: Maxroll is English only. No localization.
  • Mobile-first players: the UI is desktop-first. Long guides are hard to read on a small screen.
  • Lore enthusiasts: this is technical content. For deep lore, go to wikis (lastepoch.wiki, fandom).
  • Off-meta theorycrafting: published builds are the "canonical" ones for the patch. For creative non-meta builds, Last Epoch Tools has more variety.

How it's used in practice

  1. Go to maxroll.gg/last-epoch.

  2. Browse by class: top menu → Classes → pick your class. See all masteries with published builds.

  3. Click a build: the page has sections — Overview, Skills, Passives, Idols, Gear, Mechanics, Leveling, Endgame.

  4. Open the build's planner: link in each guide. You can clone it to your account to modify.

  5. For tier lists: top menu → Tier Lists → Class or Build tier list. Each entry has a link to its guide.

  6. For Monolith: top menu → Monolith → Beginner Guide → Empowered Guide. Read both before starting Empowered.

  7. For Dungeons: top menu → Dungeons → guide per dungeon with boss strategies.

  8. For news/patches: home → see latest articles including patch analysis and season previews.

Honest limitations

Endgame focus: although there's leveling content, the most detailed material is endgame. For the first 50 levels any Maxroll build works — curation there is lighter.

Build variety limited by curation: they only publish builds that pass the editorial filter. For creative off-meta builds, Last Epoch Tools has more variety.

Fast updates but not immediate: post-patch it typically takes 24-72h to have tier lists fully revised. For immediate reaction, follow Maxroll team's Discord/Twitter.

Display ads: there are banner ads and newsletter prompts. Manageable with adblock; nowhere near the intrusive level of some competitors.

No filter editor system: Maxroll gives you published filters as downloadable files, but no integrated visual editor. To create/edit your own filter, go to Last Epoch Tools.

How to start

  1. maxroll.gg/last-epoch. No signup to read.

  2. If you're new to LE: go to Getting Started → Beginners Guide. Then Class Tier List to pick a mastery.

  3. Once you've chosen mastery: open the top-tier build for that mastery. Read the Leveling section first, not the endgame.

  4. Import the planner if you want to modify the build to your situation.

  5. At endgame: reread the Endgame and Idols/Blessings sections to refine.

  6. Empowered prep: read the Empowered Monolith Guide before pushing corruption.

  7. Bookmark Maxroll and check it weekly during active season for tier list shifts.

  8. For Q&A: Maxroll team's Discord is active and guide authors respond there.
