When you start trading in PoE 2 you'll find two dominant tools covering different parts of the market: the official trade site (pathofexile.com/trade2) for listing and searching individual items, and TFT (The Forbidden Trove), the largest PoE 2 Discord, where the community handles bulk trading, services, mirror crafts, and any trade the official site doesn't support well.

PoE 2 trade context

PoE 2's economic system is still consolidating. A few dynamics worth keeping in mind:

• The official site lives at /trade2, with an item and mod catalog specific to the game.
• TFT has dedicated PoE 2 channels with their own bots and traders. Volume is moderate and growing as the community matures.
• The currency meta is relatively simple — fewer types circulating, fewer crafting layers — which makes some bulk trade types niche or not yet applicable in PoE 2.

Trade types each one covers

The official site shines for individual items: search with granular filters, find listings, whisper, complete the trade in-game. For 80% of a typical mapper's trades this is all you need.

TFT covers the rest:

• Bulk currency exchange: PoE 2 bulk channels work and usually have better pricing than the official site for large quantities.
• Paid services: boss carries (especially endgame Trial of Chaos, Sekhema trials), levelings, complex crafts. TFT is the hub.
• Mirror-tier items: very valuable items don't get listed on public trade; they're negotiated on TFT with verified reputation.

Friction and reputation

Official site: search, whisper, trade, repeat. Medium friction because AFK sellers and trap pricing show up on any open market without verification.

TFT: post in the right channel, someone with rep responds, coordinate in DMs. Higher initial friction (server culture, per-channel rules) but big trades close fast with active traders. The verified reputation system is what makes high-value services viable: visible rep for trusted traders, bans for scammers, active dispute resolution process.

Which one?

• Individual trade for a specific item → official site. It's what it does best.
• Bulk currency, services, mirror items → TFT. No real alternative in PoE 2.
• You're new to PoE 2 and just want gear for mapping → official site. TFT's learning curve isn't worth it for your first trades.
• You're getting into endgame economy → both, in parallel.

It's worth joining TFT and reading 20 minutes of the pinned notes before you need a specific service, especially because the PoE 2 services ecosystem is still growing and new channels appear as GGG adds mechanics.
