What it is
Codefling is a web marketplace for Rust mods: plugins, custom maps, prefabs, models. Paid-first — most content costs between $5 and $50, with some premium plugins at $100+ for enterprise hosts. Launched to fill the gap uMod left (it doesn't accept paid plugins), Codefling lets devs monetize their work. Includes support system (devs answer tickets), lifetime updates with purchase, and refunds with a reasonable policy.
What problem it solves
uMod has 1400+ free plugins, but the vast majority are made by hobbyists. The most complex plugins (multi-currency economy systems, advanced anti-cheat, custom raid systems, GUI panels) require hundreds of dev hours, and serious devs don't give them away. Codefling is where those plugins live. Same with maps: a quality custom map takes 50-100+ hours of work and typically sells for $20-50.
Differentiation
Against uMod (free), Codefling covers the "premium" segment: more polished plugins, real support, maps you can't find free. Against buying from scattered devs (Discord DM, scattered websites), Codefling standardizes: secure payment, refunds, ratings, support tickets. Carbon recently integrated with Codefling so purchases install seamlessly. For a serious admin, Codefling dramatically reduces the friction of acquiring and maintaining paid plugins.
What people use it for
- Premium plugins: economy systems (Server Rewards, Bank), advanced anti-cheat (anti-EAC-bypass), custom raid systems, GUI dashboards.
- Custom maps: quality maps for special wipes, with custom monuments, puzzles, lore.
- Loose prefabs: individual monuments, buildings, decorations to complement procedural maps.
- Models and skins: model packs for custom weapons, custom NPCs, custom mounts.
- Bundle deals: developers release discounted bundles (e.g., "Full Economy Pack" with shop + currency + jobs for $30).
Who this isn't for
If you only start with a vanilla or lightly modded server, free uMod plugins cover everything. If you have zero budget, Codefling isn't an option. If you depend on plugins that are deprecated on Codefling (the seller stopped maintaining), refund or repurchase with another seller.
How to use it
- Open codefling.com, register account.
- Browse by category: Plugins, Maps, Prefabs, Tools.
- Each item has preview, reviews, changelog, and dev info.
- Purchase via Stripe or PayPal — you receive the file in your account dashboard.
- To install: download the .cs (plugin) or .map (map) and drop in the correct server folder (Oxide or Carbon).
- Updates: dev publishes new version, you download from your dashboard and replace the old file.
Honest limitations
- Costs money: no free tier. Typical plugins $10-30, maps $20-50.
- Quality varies by dev: some sellers are responsive and update fast, others publish and disappear.
- Refund policy is reasonable but finite: typically 7-14 days with specific reasons (broken plugin, no support response).
- Paid plugin can break with patches: if the dev abandoned it, you're stuck with a useless file until another seller sells equivalent.
- Some plugins require free uMod plugins as dependencies: read the item's changelog before buying.
Getting started
To evaluate: browse Codefling without buying, see which plugins resonate with problems you have. For first purchase: start with something cheap ($5-15) to understand the purchase + install + support flow. If you run a big modded server, subscribing to the Codefling newsletter notifies you of bundles and sales.
