Semlar

The riven toolbox: grades, prices and a pile of niche calculators

FreeIntermediate

What it is

Semlar is a long-running Warframe web toolbox. The most-used parts are its Riven Calculator (the possible stat ranges of a riven) and its crowd-sourced riven price guide. But it includes much more: Amp, Kitgun and Zaw builders, a death-log parser, fish locations, and arbitration, Nightwave and Sentient-anomaly trackers.

It's free (with optional Patreon) and actively maintained, with frequent updates.

What problem it solves

Rivens are the hardest item to value in Warframe: each is semi-unique, with random stats and a range of possible rolls. Knowing whether a riven is good —and what it's worth on the market— requires understanding that range and the demand. Warframe Market shows listings, but doesn't tell you whether the riven is a good roll or its relative value.

Semlar solves that: its calculator shows the possible stats of a given riven and how good yours is within that range, and its crowd-sourced price guide gives a reference for what people ask for similar rivens. It's the evaluation step before the trade.

Differentiation

Versus Warframe Market (the general marketplace where everything is bought and sold), Semlar is the specialist in rivens and niche calculators. Warframe Market gives you the listing and the transaction; Semlar gives you the judgment to know whether that riven is worth what they're asking. Rule of thumb: Semlar to evaluate, Warframe Market to trade.

What people use it for

Evaluating rivens: see the range of possible stats and how good the roll you have is.

Pricing rivens to trade: the crowd-sourced price guide gives a reference before buying or selling.

Building Amps, Kitguns and Zaws: the modular builders help pick components.

Tracking rotating content: arbitrations, Nightwave, Sentient anomalies.

Analyzing deaths: the death-log parser helps understand what killed you in high-level runs.

Who this tool isn't for

If you don't trade rivens or get into modular-weapon theorycraft, most of Semlar adds nothing for you.

If you only want to buy/sell, Warframe Market is the place — Semlar is for the analysis beforehand, not the transaction.

How it's used in practice

  1. Go to semlar.com.
  2. For a riven, open the Riven Calculator, pick the weapon and see the stat range.
  3. Compare your roll against that range to know how good it is.
  4. Check the price guide for a market reference.
  5. For other tools (Amp/Kitgun/Zaw builders, trackers), browse the relevant sections.

Honest limitations

Dated interface: the design is functional but old; it's not the most polished site.

English only: the interface isn't translated.

Crowd-sourced prices: the price guide depends on community input, so it can lag or have imperfect data on rare rivens.

How to get started

Go to semlar.com and, if you have a riven, try the Riven Calculator with its weapon to understand how good it is. It's the go-to tool for anyone trading rivens; you discover the rest of the calculators as you need them.
