Cephalopocalypse

ENyoutube

Cephalopocalypse is one of Baldur's Gate 3's theorycrafting references: builds explained from the D&D 5e rules that hold them up, not just from the result. Their strength is mechanics deep dives and well-optimized single-class builds, with a calm, analytical tone. It's the channel to turn to when you want to understand why a build works, not just copy it.

ItalianSpartacus

ItalianSpartacus is one of BG3's most accessible build channels: clear, well-structured guides meant to let an average player execute the build without getting lost. It covers classes, multiclassing, and patch changes in a direct format. Where Cephalopocalypse goes deep on theory, ItalianSpartacus focuses on handing you a ready-to-use build explained step by step.

Mortismal Gaming

ENyoutube

Mortismal Gaming is an RPG review and coverage channel with a trademark: it reviews games after completing them 100%, which gives its opinion a different weight. For BG3 it covers reviews, first impressions, patch analysis, and general guides. It's the channel for a mature, complete view of the game, rather than for a specific build.

Proxy Gate Tactician

Proxy Gate Tactician specializes in BG3's competitive end: builds optimized for Honour Mode and Tactician, min-maxing, class tier lists, and combat strategies for the hardest difficulties. It's the channel for players past the basic curve who want to squeeze every point of damage and survivability out of the game's most demanding challenges.

TodoRPGs is one of the few Spanish-language channels fully dedicated to Baldur's Gate 3: builds by class, canonical builds for the main party, themed guides, boss strategies, and progression tips for both Honour Mode and a first playthrough. For the Spanish-speaking community that prefers content in their language, it's the game's most complete reference.

About the game

What it is

Baldur's Gate 3 is Larian Studios' turn-based RPG released in August 2023, built on the Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition ruleset and set in the Forgotten Realms. It's the third entry in the Baldur's Gate saga, but it plays differently from the first two: tactical turn-based combat, an isometric camera with real verticality, and a freedom of choice few RPGs match. It won Game of the Year 2023 and became the modern benchmark for the CRPG genre.

The game is structured across three massive acts, each with dozens of interlocking quests where nearly any problem has multiple solutions: talk, fight, steal, cast a spell, shove someone off a cliff. Twelve base classes, dozens of subclasses (several added free post-launch), free multiclassing, and a gear system full of items with unique effects mean two playthroughs rarely look alike.

Why it matters for the codex

BG3 is a single-player game (with up to 4-player co-op), with no online economy and no microtransactions. That shifts which tools matter compared to a live-service ARPG: there's no trading or price tracking here, but there is a very strong ecosystem of build planners, wikis and databases, interactive maps for collectibles, and a modding scene that exploded once Larian added official mod support via mod.io in Patch 7.

The depth of the D&D 5e system is exactly what makes external tools valuable. Working out how modifiers stack, which multiclass performs best, where each piece of legendary gear is, or how to keep your mod load order from breaking are real problems the community solved with planners, wikis, and dedicated managers. The codex curates the ones worth your time and explains when to use each.

The ecosystem in one sentence

To optimize characters there are planners (EIP, GameFractal, BG3 Compendium); to look up rules, items, and quests there are wikis (bg3.wiki, Fextralife); to find everything on the map there's Map Genie; and to mod the game there are BG3 Mod Manager, official mod support, Script Extender, and the UI frameworks. Each tool has its full analysis, head-to-head comparisons, and place in the recommended stack.
